The EVH system used in the PREVENT IV trial was a closed gas (CO2) system. EVH systems dependent on gas insufflation to maintain tissue separation and/or the tunnel carry an increased risk of CO2 embolism. Sorin Group’s ClearGlide system is an Open CO2 system, which carries little or no risk of CO2 embolism.
